WINNSBORO: Funeral services for Mr. Daniel Preston ‘D.P.’ Cook Sr., age 90, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Winnsboro conducted by the Rev. Melvin Barnett. Burial will follow in Fairfield Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Pope Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday evening.
Mr. Cook died in his home on Sept. 13, 2012. He was the husband of Nellie Brigman Cook and the son of the late Joseph Allen and Louise “Lula” Cook of Bennettsville, S.C. He was born in Dillon County, S.C. on March 30, 1922. Mr. Cook was retired from Uniroyal. He was a musician, a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Winnsboro and a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.
With an honorable mention of the Shepard family, Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nellie Brigman Cook; six children, Lalan W. Cook of Prosperity, Violet Beiser of Lexington, Keith Cook of Maryland, Faye Harris of Winnsboro, Kathy Baughman of Winnsboro and Daniel P. Cook Jr., of Clyde, N.C.; 24 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Mr. Cook was predeceased by two brothers, Wallace Cook and Joe Cook, as well as a sister, Cora Lee Shepard.
