Blythewood: John Willis Davis Sr., 59, of Blythewood, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Born in Batesburg, S.C., he was a son of the late James Robinson Davis III and Tillie Harris Davis. John proudly served in the U.S. Navy and most recently worked at the WJB Dorn V.A. Medical Center. He was a member of the Blythewood Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy “Susie” Davis; son, John Davis Jr. of Orange Park, Fla.; daughter, Lisa Ann Davis of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Robin (Lawrence) Large of Lugoff, Paula (Cole) Porter of Lexington; grandson, James Lewis Davis; granddaughter, Elizabeth Noelle Davis, both of Orange Park, Fla.; step-grandchildren, Ryan Dale Kellum, Jesse Conrad, Franklin Kellum, Julia Grace Kellum, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; nephew, Al Large of Lugoff, Christopher Porter of Lexington; nieces, Natalie Porter of Lexington and Crystal Large of Columbia.
The funeral service for John was held 11:30 o’clock, Monday, July 2, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, with the Rev. Amos Hann officiating. Burial followed at 1 o’clock at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. The family received friends from 5 until 7 o’clock, Sunday evening, at the funeral home.
