BLYTHEWOOD: Evelyn “Mindi” Rutledge of Blythewood was born in West Virginia, Sept. 23, 1922, and passed from this life July 8, 2012. Mindi was preceded in death by her husband, William Raymond Rutledge and is survived by her daughter, Billie Kay (Rutledge) Bierer, and son in law Walter Bierer both of Ridgeway; granddaughter, Jamie Marie of Blythewood; grandsons, Joseph S. Bierer (Dennyse) of Blythewood and Brent Williams Jeffries (Pamela); great grandsons, Ryan Rutledge Bierer, Kyle R. Hill, William Thomas Hill and Jacob Jeffries; and great granddaughters Gabrielle and Hannah Jeffries. Mindi lived in Arizona 26 years before moving to Florida and more recently, Blythewood, S.C. A retired cosmetologist, she volunteered at Valley of the Sun Children’s Home, Arizona State Mental Hospital, Arizona State Prison and three nursing homes. Mindi played golf, participated in the Senior Games since inception (won many gold medals in swimming) and played a wicked doubles in tennis. She was a member of Ocala West Methodist church, through which she delivered Meals on Wheels, and later Unity Church and Trinity Methodist. “My mother did not sit idly watching life pass. She jumped right in and had a great time, helping others throughout her life. She will be missed by family and many friends, including all the guys and gals at her many bridge games in Columbia,” said her daughter Billie.
