These members of the Sandy Level Baptist Church Youth Mission Team washed cars all day June 16 to raise money for a mission trip they plan to take to Greenville, Miss. in July. According to their Youth Pastor, Jake McClure, they raised almost $1,000 on Saturday, and must raise $2,000 more to reach their goal of $7,000. About 30 middle and high school students from Blythewood will participate in the fundraising and mission trip. Besides raising funds, the youth missionaries have attended an eight-week training course to prepare for the trip. They will stay at the Parkview Baptist Church in Greenville. “Our students do this every year and sacrifice a significant portion of their summer to help others,” said McClure. “I appreciate how the community gets behind them with financial support and encouraging words.” Financial donations are still being accepted at the church by calling 754-1299.
