She was also predeceased by her husband, Walter Mungo of Columbia, in 1994, and her previous husband, George Foster of Sumter. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Rose (Tom) Shanklin of Galt, California; brothers, Jack Tolar of Rhode Island and Jim Tolar of Tennessee; two daughters, Vicki Gray of Columbia and Bonita Murray of Blythewood. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Rebecca Gray of Columbia, Lisa Gray of West Columbia, Mrs. Teresa (Baljinder) Sekhon of Tampa, Fla., Brian Hughes of Columbia, Kimberly Murray of Charleston and Douglas Murray of Boca Raton, Fla., and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Gray, Nina Gray, Madelyn Gray, Izabel Sekhon and Skyler Sekhon.
Pansy was a successful businesswoman in Columbia, starting out as a sales secretary at First National Bank, where she won an award for Salesperson of the Year in 1966. She later worked in building homes and selling real estate at Sentry Realty of Irmo, then owned and operated Mungo Insurance Agency with her husband, Walter Mungo, until her retirement in 1998. She was involved with community fundraising for Carolina Children’s Home and with the Columbia Junior Women’s Club Red Stockings Revue for more than 30 years and loved to dance.
Pansy was also a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church for more than 50 years and attended Bill Donahue’s Sunday School Class until her decline in health this past year. She also was a member of the Capital City Seniors Club, where she loved to go on Friday nights with her dear friends, Clint and Joann Derr, until her most recent hospitalization. She will be missed and loved by all.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until noon with funeral services following at noon on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at North Trenholm Baptist Church. Entombment followed at Bush River Memorial Mausoleum.
