Griffins ink collegiate plans

WINNSBORO – Three Fairfield Central High School senior athletes made their plans for college official on Wednesday when they signed their National Letters of Intent.

Jonathan Warren signed his commitment to play baseball at Morris College in North Carolina. Warren, a catcher and occasional pitcher for the Griffins, has tallied 21 hits in 46 at bats this season. He has hit six doubles and batted in 14 runs.

Warren will be joined by Rylan Woodard, right, who also signed to play at Morris College. Woodard, an outfielder and pitcher, has 11 hits in 39 plate appearances this season, including two doubles and eight RBIs. Woodard struck out 16 batters in 16.2 innings this season. Woodard also played basketball and ran cross country for Fairfield.

Myles Robertson will continue his football career at Erskine College. In his senior season, Robertson averaged 6.1 yard per carry and scored eight touchdowns. He also had four receptions for 64 yards, and defensively averaged 6.7 tackles per game.
