Mail burns in carrier’s vehicle

BLYTHEWOOD – The vehicle of a mail route carrier delivering mail for the Blythewood Post Office caught fire last Thursday, May 25, destroying the car and most of the mail it was carrying according to Blythewood Post Master Richard Jones.

Jones said the driver, Eric Taylor, who was delivering mail on Route 3, was not injured.

“About half the route had already been delivered so it was not all destroyed,” Jones told The Voice.

The fire occured about 3 p.m. at 1240 E. Miles Road, A fire engine and tanker were dispatched from the nearby Bear Creek Fire Station.

Jones said the following routes were affected: Cooper Pond Rd., Dodson Rd., Grover Wilson Rd., Hiram Allen Rd., Branham, Mullis, Bear Creek, NE Miles, Miles Oak, Malloy and Country Pines.
