Mayor (Chef) Ross cooks for kids

Mayor Ross and pit master Tony Crout sample their pork sliders.

Mayor J. Michael Ross was among the ‘Who’s Who’ of Columbia Sunday evening when he was one of 100 Columbia area men selected to create and serve their own culinary specialties to the public at EdVenture.

Ross was sauteing with the likes of cartoonist Robert Ariail, Sheriff Leon Lott, Fireflies President John Katz…the list was long and impressive.

The purpose of the event was to raise funds for programs for EdVenture. Friends and family voted on the cooks’ concoctions with $$ donations.

Since Ross is not a chef by trade, he sought culinary guidance from another of Blythewood’s own – pit master Tony Crout of Doko Smoke BBQ.

Wise decision – the team placed fourth in the competition.

Ross was pleased with the pulled pork sliders he and Crout turned out as well as the funds they brought in.

“Lots of fun!” Ross said of the event that raised over $21,000 for EdVenture.
