“I woke up this morning only praying to fall back asleep, because for those few hours this wasn’t real. All day yesterday, I prayed “Lord, bring Shawn home to us. Bring that smile home,” only to find out that he’d already been brought Home. He is Home with our Lord. Shawn, I will miss you beyond belief. I don’t exactly know how to live a life without my big brother. I am finding some sort of peace in knowing God will give you all the deer, turkeys, and fish in His Heaven. You know, to hunt when you aren’t on the dock fishing with Mammie. Or when you aren’t catching up with Flem, or saying “Man, it’s been too long” to Matt. You probably called him Twiggy, Twigs or Twiggles, but here at home he was Rooney; he was my Bubba. Whoever he was to you, he was a dear friend. In trying to look through all of the posts, there isn’t one where Shawn’s smile isn’t radiating. He simply was the life of the party. The party around here just won’t ever be the same without him. Shawn, I have never wanted you here to tell me how aggravating I am more than I do right now. I’ve never wanted TO aggravate you more than I do right now. I love you, Bub. We are missing you more than words could ever explain. And I cannot wait to see you again. Have a Natty ready for me.”
