Geneva Bell of Ridgeway was serenaded with a special birthday song by 300 well-wishers on Sunday as she entered the ballroom of the Carolina Event Center, very much under her own power, to celebrate her 100th birthday. Looking stunningly fit and glamorous in a purple suit, Bell said she thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon as her nine living children (of 12 born to Bell and her last husband George Sr.), 52 grandchildren, 95 great grands, 60 great-great grands, 5 great-great-great grands and many friends and relatives honored her with songs, speeches and poetry recitations.
