BLYTHEWOOD (Dec. 7, 2016) – The Lady Redhawks used an 18 point fourth quarter Tuesday to remain undefeated (4-0) by dropping the Spring Valley Vikings (3-2) 71-59.

“I felt our energy on the defensive end of the court lead to our production tonight,” Lady Redhawks head coach Gregory Bauldrick said.

The Lady Redhawks’ full-court pressure led to many fast break opportunities for them to capitalize on during the first half, as they biult a 43-36 lead going into the break. Westwood’s Maya Belton led all scorers with 25 points and 12 steals to lead the second half charge to continue their strong hold on their lead.

“Maya played amazing for us tonight and her energy on the offensive and mainly the defensive end during the game changed the momentum of the game for our favor,” Bauldrick said.

Despite Belton’s strong play, the Lady Vikings, led by Kristian Wall and her 19 points, helped tie the game at 53 going into the final quarter. But the Lady Redhawks outscored Spring Valley 18-6 in the final frame to win the game 71-59.

Westwood’s next game is at Blythewood Friday at 6 p.m.
